You’re one step closer to studying at the University of Massachusetts Boston!
By now, you should have submitted your payment to secure your seat at UMass Boston GSSP. Once you receive your I-20, Letter of Offer, and Letter of Acceptance, you must book your visa interview with a U.S. Consulate to receive your visa.
In order to prepare for your semester ahead, please utilize this website and the guides below to familiarize yourself with what is required before you make your way to Boston.

Steps
Confirm Your Visa
Confirm your visa by sending an email to admissions@umbgssp.com. Notify them of your visa appointment date and receipt of student visa.

Join the Facebook Page
Join the UMass Boston GSSP Facebook Page to stay up to date on important information, join Facebook Live Q+As and connect with your new classmates!
DEADLINE: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Make Tuition Payment
Make tuition payment listed on your invoice. You will not be able to enroll in classes until your payment is received.
DEADLINE: One week prior to course registration
Secure Housing
Review housing options and check out the GSSP Quick Guide to Housing for details and instructions on how to apply.
DEADLINE: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Review the Guide
Review the Pre-Arrival Checklist, Enrollment Guide and Student Handbook. Contact studentsuccess@umbgssp.com if you don’t receive them in your email.
Complete All Testing
Please refer to the Enrollment Guide to see how/where to complete testing. Program name can be found on your offer letter.
- Undergraduate GSSP Students: Must complete the ALEKS Math Placement Test and Writing Assessment Exam.
- English Language Program Students: No testing required prior to arrival.
DEADLINE: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Enroll in Classes
Enroll in classes through the Navitas Portal.
DEADLINE: Before first day of Orientation
Upload Immunization Forms
- Upload the completed Immunization Form, COVID-19 vaccination record, and Tuberculosis Questionnaire’.
- Bring all forms and relevant medical records with you to orientation. Failure to bring these documents could result in I-20 termination.
DEADLINE: At least 1 Week Prior to Arrival
Bring Required Forms
Complete all forms sent with your I-20 and bring them with you to orientation including:
- Original, final transcripts and diploma (proof of graduation), with English translation if applicable.
- Immunization forms and any relevant medical records.
Failure to bring these documents could result in I-20 termination.
DEADLINE: Prior to Departure
Attend Mandatory Student Orientation
Orientation is a mandatory program designed to help new students become familiar with the academic, cultural, and social aspects of studying at UMass Boston. Bring all forms listed in STEP 10 with you to Orientation.
